1960 MGA 1600 Mk1 ROADSTER – MANUAL – 18,626 MILES SHOWING The MGA replaced the MG TF 1500 Midget and represented a complete styling break from MG’s earlier sports cars. Announced on 26 September 1955, the car was officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show. A total of 101,476 units were marketed by the end of production in July 1962, the vast majority of which were exported. 5869 cars were sold on the home market, and the MGA was replaced by the MGB. The MGA design dates back to 1951, when MG designer Syd Enever created a streamlined body for George Philips’ TD Le Mans car. The new bodywork traded the MG TF’s articulated fenders and running board for ponton styling, with a single styled envelope fully enclosing the width and uninterrupted length of a car. This lovely example is an Australian delivered (CKD) MGA and is a matching numbers car. Presenting in Bright Monza Red with Black interior trim and chrome wire wheels. Original specifications suggest 1588cc (1600) 4 cylinder B series engine, it produced when new 59.3Kw and 118nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Performance figures suggested 0-100kph in 14.2 secs and a top speed near 160kph. The current owner has provided the following information on his car:- Engine is a 1600 and is fully rebuilt with only about 700km on it. The coolant system has also been upgraded, now featuring an aluminium radiator with twin thermo fans. The rebuild was done by Classic and Sportscar Boutique in Norwood. The body was fully restored in Sydney prior to my purchase. The chassis has had a partial restoration by Finch Restorations. In 2021 it was awarded best 1600 MGA Roadster in Australia by the MG Car Company. The car comes with a good hood, full tonneau cover and side windows. If you long for wind in your hair classic motoring on a fine day to your favourite destination, this car is just right for you. 1966 HONDA S600 CONVERTIBLE – MANUAL – 5,699 MILES SHOWING Presenting in Red with Black interior trim. Delivered new by Carcycle of Pirie Street Adelaide, Honda’s first SA dealer, now in it’s second South Australian ownership for over 50 years. Restored many years ago, it still is in very good and original condition. The owner has completed all his own servicing and does have some invoices in a folder which show monies spent. He has a Workshop Manual for the S600 which is in good condition and goes with the sale. There is also a set of ignition points that go with the car, which are exclusive to the S600. The Honda S600 was launched in 1964 as a roadster and 1965 as a fastback coupé, was Honda’s first mass-produced car. Influenced by motorcycle technology, it utilized a roller-bearing crankshaft, four Keihin carburettors, and a chain-drive rear end. Known for its high-revving nature and lightweight, it was a 2-seater that competed with larger cars in performance. This was basically the Japanese version of the popular MG Midget and Austin Healey Sprite at the time. Powered by a 606cc 4 cylinder engine, it produced 42kw of power, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Performance figures at the time suggested 0-100kph in 15.4 secs and a top speed near 145kph. This model’s performance wasn’t that shattering, marketing was more about wind in hair motoring, economically and a reasonable purchase price. It was replaced by the more powerful S800 in January 1966. These cars are quite rare now and command good prices world wide. Even Jay Leno has one in his amazing collection! This S600 has a good soft top, together with both full and quarter tonneau covers. An ideal car for classic events, show and shines or just a drive to your favourite destination. Currently on Historic registration in South Australian, however this registration is not transferable. Eligible for Historic registration in most jurisdictions, this equates to minimal on road costs. 1968 JAGUAR 420 SEDAN – MANUAL – 3,510 MILES SHOWING The Jaguar 420 (pronounced “four-twenty”) and its Daimler Sovereign equivalent were introduced at the October 1966 London Motor Show and produced for two years as the ultimate expression of a series of “compact sporting saloons” offered by Jaguar throughout that decade, all of which shared the same wheelbase. Developed from the Jaguar S-Type, the 420 cost around £200 more than that model and effectively ended buyer interest in it, although the S-Type continued to be sold alongside the 420/Sovereign until both were supplanted by the Jaguar XJ6 late in 1968. This beautiful example presents in Black with luxurious Cream leather interior trim and sporting a lovely set of chrome wire wheels. Very rare in manual form, this is a matching numbers Jaguar verified by the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate dated the 22nd of March 2022. Dated of dispatch from Jaguar on the 7th of February 1968 and headed for Brisbane and it’s first owner. Powered by a 4.2 Litre XK cylinder engine, it produced when new 183Kw and 382Nm of power and torque, delivered to a 4 speed manual with o/drive on 3rd & 4th gears, effectively give you a 6 ratio gearbox. Performance figures at the time of release suggested 0-100kph in 8.2 secs and a top speed near 200kph. This car has had several owners since new and the current South Australian owner advises the previous owners carried out the following work in 2009/2010 as follows:- * New leather throughout from Richmond in NZ (no barbed wire fences) * New door cards * Carpets using material native to Porsche, extending into parcel tray, glove box, door pockets and fully lining the boot. * Hood lining native to Rolls Royce * Wood refinished by Carwood Melbourne * All instruments rebuilt and chrome binnacles in lieu of painted black * Clock binnacle chromed, clock wired into main circuit and is turned on by pulling the time adjuster, turned off by disconnecting the battery. * New foams, front and rear and new hessian with new seat backs for front seats * Re-build seat springs, took two sets of front seats to make one good set and the rear seat was the product of three seats. * Centre console is actually from an automatic, as the original was unrecoverable * Moto-Lita steering wheel * New door seals, new quarter vent seals, new rear flap window seals * New front & rear windscreen seals * New battery channels and window splash seals * Hardware all hand polished and refitted * Retro style AM/FM radio with USB stick capacity Before the interior was rebuilt, the previous owners also addressed the handling and ride by:- * Fitting slightly reduced strength MkII racing springs to the front * Uprated coils to the rear * Gas adjustable shock absorbers all round. All this above work is covered by a large folder of invoices and paperwork. The whole car is a testament to all the owners, to showcase the car in such condition. 1948 MG TC ROADSTER – 1,081 MILES SHOWING Probably one of the most popular MG models ever made, this model is really just a post war example of the earlier TA and TB pre war models, which had to be suspended during the war years as the Abingdon MG factory was turned over to the Ministry of Defence to assist in the war production of weapons and materials. The US servicemen based in the UK during the war just fell in love with MG Midget design and driving down English country lanes, so when the conflict was over and they were sent home, they pined for this car.
