1960 MGA 1600 Mk1 ROADSTER – MANUAL – 18,626 MILES SHOWING The MGA replaced the MG TF 1500 Midget and represented a complete styling break from MG’s earlier sports cars. Announced on 26 September 1955, the car was officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show. A total of 101,476 units were marketed by the end of production in July 1962, the vast majority of which were exported. 5869 cars were sold on the home market, and the MGA was replaced by the MGB. The MGA design dates back to 1951, when MG designer Syd Enever created a streamlined body for George Philips’ TD Le Mans car. The new bodywork traded the MG TF’s articulated fenders and running board for ponton styling, with a single styled envelope fully enclosing the width and uninterrupted length of a car. This lovely example is an Australian delivered (CKD) MGA and is a matching numbers car. Presenting in Bright Monza Red with Black interior trim and chrome wire wheels. Original specifications suggest 1588cc (1600) 4 cylinder B series engine, it produced when new 59.3Kw and 118nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Performance figures suggested 0-100kph in 14.2 secs and a top speed near 160kph. The current owner has provided the following information on his car:- Engine is a 1600 and is fully rebuilt with only about 700km on it. The coolant system has also been upgraded, now featuring an aluminium radiator with twin thermo fans. The rebuild was done by Classic and Sportscar Boutique in Norwood. The body was fully restored in Sydney prior to my purchase. The chassis has had a partial restoration by Finch Restorations. In 2021 it was awarded best 1600 MGA Roadster in Australia by the MG Car Company. The car comes with a good hood, full tonneau cover and side windows. 1966 HONDA S600 CONVERTIBLE – MANUAL – 5,699 MILES SHOWING Presenting in Red with Black interior trim. Delivered new by Carcycle of Pirie Street Adelaide, Honda’s first SA dealer, now in it’s second South Australian ownership for over 50 years. Restored many years ago, it still is in very good and original condition. The owner has completed all his own servicing and does have some invoices in a folder which show monies spent. He has a Workshop Manual for the S600 which is in good condition and goes with the sale. There is also a set of ignition points that go with the car, which are exclusive to the S600. The Honda S600 was launched in 1964 as a roadster and 1965 as a fastback coupé, was Honda’s first mass-produced car. Influenced by motorcycle technology, it utilized a roller-bearing crankshaft, four Keihin carburettors, and a chain-drive rear end. Known for its high-revving nature and lightweight, it was a 2-seater that competed with larger cars in performance. This was basically the Japanese version of the popular MG Midget and Austin Healey Sprite at the time. Powered by a 606cc 4 cylinder engine, it produced 42kw of power, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Performance figures at the time suggested 0-100kph in 15.4 secs and a top speed near 145kph. This model’s performance wasn’t that shattering, marketing was more about wind in hair motoring, economically and a reasonable purchase price. It was replaced by the more powerful S800 in January 1966. These cars are quite rare now and command good prices world wide. Even Jay Leno has one in his amazing collection! This S600 has a good soft top, together with both full and quarter tonneau covers. An ideal car for classic events, show and shines or just a drive to your favourite destination. 1968 JAGUAR 420 SEDAN – MANUAL – 3,510 MILES SHOWING The Jaguar 420 (pronounced “four-twenty”) and its Daimler Sovereign equivalent were introduced at the October 1966 London Motor Show and produced for two years as the ultimate expression of a series of “compact sporting saloons” offered by Jaguar throughout that decade, all of which shared the same wheelbase. Developed from the Jaguar S-Type, the 420 cost around £200 more than that model and effectively ended buyer interest in it, although the S-Type continued to be sold alongside the 420/Sovereign until both were supplanted by the Jaguar XJ6 late in 1968. This beautiful example presents in Black with luxurious Cream leather interior trim and sporting a lovely set of chrome wire wheels. Very rare in manual form, this is a matching numbers Jaguar verified by the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate dated the 22nd of March 2022. Dated of dispatch from Jaguar on the 7th of February 1968 and headed for Brisbane and it’s first owner. Powered by a 4.2 Litre XK cylinder engine, it produced when new 183Kw and 382Nm of power and torque, delivered to a 4 speed manual with o/drive on 3rd & 4th gears, effectively give you a 6 ratio gearbox. Performance figures at the time of release suggested 0-100kph in 8.2 secs and a top speed near 200kph. 1969 LOTUS ELAN S4 DHC – MANUAL – 56,963 MILES SHOWING Presenting in Off White with Black interior trim. Number 447 out of 471 S4 Elans built. Original delivery was to a resident of Michigan USA via Lotus Cars Canada, we hold a copy of the original Certificate of Title showing details and a Certificate from Lotus Cars UK. They also show the original exterior colour as Red with Black interior trim. We also hold a copy of the Australian Federal Government Vehicle Import Approval # 11460 and dated the 26th of July 2017. Just freshly serviced so it is right up to date for the next owner. Some background into the origins of the Lotus Elan:- The Lotus Elan was the first Lotus road car to use a steel backbone chassis with a fibreglass body. This style of construction was to be repeated in subsequent Lotus models for nearly three decades. At approximately 680 kg, the Elan embodied Colin Chapman’s minimum weight design philosophy. The Elan was technologically advanced with a DOHC 1,558 cc engine, four-wheel disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, and 4-wheel independent suspension. Gordon Murray, designer of the McLaren F1 supercar, reportedly said that his only disappointment with the McLaren F1 was that he could not give it the perfect steering of the Lotus Elan Engine & Performance The S4 model featured the robust Lotus-Ford Twin Cam engine, which delivered impressive performance for its light weight. Engine Type: Inline 4-cylinder, DOHC (Double Overhead Camshaft), 2 valves per cylinder. Displacement: 1,558 cc (1.6 Lt). Horsepower: Approximately 85.7Kw/115 bhp (brake horsepower) at 6000 rpm (for the SE version). Torque: 147 Nm at 4000 rpm. Fuel System: Typically came with twin 175 CD-2 Stromberg carburettors (or optional twin Weber 40 DCOE/Dell’Orto DHLA carburettors depending on spec). This example has the twin Weber 40 DCOE carburettors. Transmission: 4-speed manual gearbox. Top Speed: Near 190kph 0-100kph : Approximately 7.1 seconds. Chassis & Dimensions The S4 maintained Colin Chapman’s philosophy of “simplify, then add lightness” with its innovative construction. Chassis: Rigid steel backbone frame. Body: Lightweight fiberglass reinforced plastic one-piece moulding. Curb Weight: Approximately 680 kg Length: 3.69 m. Width: 1.42 m. Wheelbase: 2.3 m. Mechanical Features The vehicle was technologically advanced for its time, with a focus on superior handling and braking capabilities. Suspension: Fully independent on all four wheels with coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers. The rear used a “Chapman strut” design. Brakes: Four-wheel disc brakes (9.5-inch front, 10-inch rear). Steering: Rack and pinion. Wheels: 13-inch peg-drive centre-lock steel wheels were standard. Headlights: Vacuum-operated retractable headlamps. All together, one of the nicest English sportscars to reach the market in the 60’s, very quick then and still is and just a delight to drive. This example comes with a large folder of documentation from it’s present owner, who is a Lotus fanatic and parting with one of his cars with mixed feelings. All the paperwork supplied shows his dedication to the car and his constant attention to it’s needs. He has also supplied the following information which explains the car’s current status and condition:- “Michigan title but all import documents correct and included. Invoice for parts to restore engine. Engine machined by Southcott’s Competition pads fitted so screeching front brakes Certificate of authenticity as a type 45 December 1969 Carnival red. Weber 40 carbs. Compression increased to Sprint specs Chassis was rusty. I had another Elan being built to FIA appendix K specification requiring a new Tony Thompson strengthened racing chassis. My mechanics modified the spare chassis to replicate the strengthened racing chassis. This is now in the car. Body off restoration. My mechanics used to be John Surtees F1 mechanics. They also did Indy and CanAm. Shell was sand blasted and then had a tissue thin cloth of fiberglass put over the whole body to prevent future crazing. Car was then painted to match the colours of the Elan Sprint which I use in sprint events. The initial release of the 308 GTB saw Enzo Ferrari’s “Carrozzeria” of choice, Sergio Scaglietti (whose business was across the road from Ferrari’s Scuderia Ferrari in Trento Trieste in Modena) take the unusual step to produce the new Ferrari’s body work in Vetroresina (Italian for fibreglass). This Lightweight Composite Material enabled the total weight of the 308 GTB to be just 1,050kg. This construction method marked the first time that a composite body was sold on a production Ferrari. Underneath the Vetroresina bodywork was a Tubular chassis supporting a Mid-Mounted Transverse 2927cc V8 engine designed by Vittorio Jano, equipped with Quad Weber Carburettors and driven through a 5 speed Transaxle Gearbox Ferrari aficionados are of the view that only 712 Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina’s were built with only 154 built in Right Hand Drive. Production of the 308 GTB switched to steel in late 1977. This 1977 Rosso Corsa Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina is an exceptionally rare, Australian Delivered example in Factory Right Hand drive with a wet sump, offered only to Australia and Japan. The interior trim has been maintained to a very high standard, with the Accented Black and red seats providing a very comfortable take on the Italian “laid back” seating position. Major Maintenance History Prior to the vehicle’s current custodian, the vehicle enjoyed single ownership from S September 2005 until November 2018 (Mr Brian Robinson). The car has enjoyed and benefitted from having two principle mechanics undertaking the servicing since 2003. There is an extensive file documenting the vehicles maintenance history, including the logbooks of travel under historic club registration. The original service history book is not present. The original owner’s manual is present. From 2003 until November 2018, the vehicle was serviced and maintained by Ferrari expert Tim Embleton, the proprietor of Black Stallion Motors (Ringwood, Victoria). Over this period, the vehicle has had no expense spared on its maintenance, with more than $46,000 worth of invoices supplied up until November 2018. Further invoices dating back to 29 October 2003 showing $37,000+ spent on n extensive overhaul. This included but was not limited to an engine rebuild undertaken by Black Stallion Motors in 2004 (at 119,400kms), uprated ignition and a new clutch. Since arriving in South Australia in December 2018, the vehicle has been exclusively serviced by Ferrari expert Mario Labrosciano, the proprietor of Veloce Motorsport. 1964 PORSCHE 356C COUPE – LHD – 46,404 MILES SHOWING This lovely example of a late Porsche 356 presents very well in White with Black leatherette trim. Porsche Cars Australia confirm that this car was delivered new in Brussels, Belgium and built June 1964. From the various badges which adorn the engine lid, it has been all over Europe and eventually ended up in South Africa. The South African owner was eventually moved to Australia and bought the 356C with him. The present owner bought the car from the South African owner about 10 years ago and has had it re trimmed inside and completed regular servicing. Powered by a 1600cc engine, it developed when new 70Kw and 119Nm of power and torque, delivering this to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Performance figures were quoted at 0-100kph in 12.5 secs and a top near 175kph. Not the Porsche performance that we know today, however, compared to other sports cars of the 60’s, very competitive. 1948 MG TC ROADSTER – 2,767 MILES SHOWING Probably one of the most popular MG models ever made, this model is really just a post war example of the earlier TA and TB pre war models, which had to be suspended during the war years as the Abingdon MG factory was turned over to the Ministry of Defence to assist in the war production of weapons and materials. The US servicemen based in the UK during the war just fell in love with MG Midget design and driving down English country lanes, so when the conflict was over and they were sent home, they pined for this car. Lovingly known by many past and present owners as “bone shakers”, they are such fun cars to drive because they deserve all your attention and give you back so many reasons to smile. As a direct result of US demand, the TC was developed by MG and export sales sky rocketed. Later models, particularly the MGA and MGB directly were riding on the initial success of the TC’s US market success. Presented here is a much loved and restored TC, now sporting a new colour green and also wearing the sometimes preferred 16′” wire wheels. Powered originally by a 1.25Lt 4 cylinder engine, it produced (54.4bhp) 40.6Kw of power, which was distributed to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Performance figures suggest 0-100kph in 21.3 secs and a top speed not much further at around 130kph. Current performance figures are not available, but almost certainly would be slightly improved on the original figures above. A previous owner has supplied the following information on the current status of this car:- “MGTC 1948 Chassis #4840 Marvellous condition and a superb road car. Comfortable and a pleasure to drive. Car originally purchased by M J Menzel on 1/9/1948 from Motors Limited Adelaide for 641 pounds. Its registration was SA 148 347 and the engine is XPAG5479. Registered in SA as above until 1967. Further history unknown until 2001 when it was purchased by R O’Malley, needing total restoration It was then sold to the current owner in 2006 in that same condition and an eight year restoration followed. The work was undertaken by MG Car Club mechanics/members from SA, Victoria & Perth and the owner over many hundreds of hours. 1948 MG TC ROADSTER – 1,081 MILES SHOWING Probably one of the most popular MG models ever made, this model is really just a post war example of the earlier TA and TB pre war models, which had to be suspended during the war years as the Abingdon MG factory was turned over to the Ministry of Defence to assist in the war production of weapons and materials. The US servicemen based in the UK during the war just fell in love with MG Midget design and driving down English country lanes, so when the conflict was over and they were sent home, they pined for this car. Lovingly known by many past and present owners as “bone shakers”, they are such fun cars to drive because they deserve all your attention and give you back so many reasons to smile. As a direct result of US demand, the TC was developed by MG and export sales sky rocketed.
