1955 MG TF 1500 ROADSTER – MANUAL – 36,236 MILES SHOWING The 1955 MG TF 1500 Roadster is a classic British sports car, featuring a 1,466 cc XPEG inline-four engine producing 63bhp (47Kw). The car was designated TF1500, and externally distinguished by a cream background enamel nameplate on both sides of the bonnet, placed just to the rear of the forward bonnet-release buttons. Only about 3,400 units were produced between 1954 and 1955, making it the rarest of the post-war T-series MGs. It is characterized by its 4-speed manual transmission, rack and pinion steering, and a top speed of roughly 145kph. This lovely example presents in Red with Tan interior trim. A matching numbers car delivered new in Melbourne in 1955. We hold considerable records of it’s earlier life both in Victoria and now under current South Australian ownership. Powered by that XPEG 1.5 Litre 4 cylinder engine, it produced 47kw and 106Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Performance figures suggested at the time of release 0-100kph in 18.0 secs and top speed near 140kph. Performance wasn’t the key feature of the TF, rather it was an extension in the prettiest form of the pre-war T series and more about touring the lovely English or Australian country lanes with the wind in your hair and smell of spring. Currently on Historic registration in South Australia, this is not transferable, however it would be eligible for similar schemes in other jurisdictions. The current SA plates “TF” may be available if the car is car is sold to another SA resident. Available to admire on our state of the art showroom floor in Adelaide. We can arrange transport door to door Australia wide, or you might like to drive it down another country lane to your abode. more

18,626 km

1960 MGA 1600 Mk1 ROADSTER – MANUAL – 18,626 MILES SHOWING The MGA replaced the MG TF 1500 Midget and represented a complete styling break from MG’s earlier sports cars. Announced on 26 September 1955, the car was officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show. A total of 101,476 units were marketed by the end of production in July 1962, the vast majority of which were exported. 5869 cars were sold on the home market, and the MGA was replaced by the MGB. The MGA design dates back to 1951, when MG designer Syd Enever created a streamlined body for George Philips’ TD Le Mans car. The new bodywork traded the MG TF’s articulated fenders and running board for ponton styling, with a single styled envelope fully enclosing the width and uninterrupted length of a car. This lovely example is an Australian delivered (CKD) MGA and is a matching numbers car. Presenting in Bright Monza Red with Black interior trim and chrome wire wheels. Original specifications suggest 1588cc (1600) 4 cylinder B series engine, it produced when new 59.3Kw and 118nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Performance figures suggested 0-100kph in 14.2 secs and a top speed near 160kph. The current owner has provided the following information on his car:- Engine is a 1600 and is fully rebuilt with only about 700km on it. The coolant system has also been upgraded, now featuring an aluminium radiator with twin thermo fans. The rebuild was done by Classic and Sportscar Boutique in Norwood. The body was fully restored in Sydney prior to my purchase. The chassis has had a partial restoration by Finch Restorations. In 2021 it was awarded best 1600 MGA Roadster in Australia by the MG Car Company. The car comes with a good hood, full tonneau cover and side windows.
