1971 ALFA ROMEO 1300 105 GT JUNIOR COUPE – MANUAL – 320 KMS SHOWING The 1971 Alfa Romeo 1300 Junior (primarily the GT 1300 Junior) is a classic two-door sports coupé. It is powered by a lively 1.3-liter twin-cam four-cylinder engine that produces 77Kw and 137 Nm of power & torque, achieving a top speed near 170 km/h. However the present owner has given us the following words to describe how the car presents now:- “Originally a 1300 GT Junior, this car has been extensively restored and improved to deliver exceptional performance and driving experience. Almost everything on this car has been rebuilt with driver enjoyment and reliability at the forefront. At its heart is a worked 2 Litre Alfa Nord motor with high compression pistons, balanced bottom end, heavily reworked cylinder head and high lift PACE camshafts. Breathing through twin 40mm DCOE Weber carburettors with GTA intake trumpets, this engine delivers in the order of 180hp. The ignition has been upgraded to a 123 ignition that allows careful adjustment to the ignition curve instantly via Bluetooth to your phone, along with immobiliser/pin code starting for extra security. In addition to the engine work, a new clutch has been fitted along with a rebuilt gearbox and balanced tail shaft with new rubber couplings and centre support bearing and housing. The braking system has been completely rebuilt with refurbished front and rear callipers, overhauled clutch and brake master cylinders. The entire suspension has been rebuilt with new bushings and ball joints throughout, along with a renewal of the steering box and new track rods. Adjustable Koni suspension has been added, set up for comfort and driving dynamics, complimented by 14” Alfaholics GTA replica wheels that maintain the original sidewall profile. Body work has taken inspiration from the iconic GTA race cars of the sixties with smoothed front and rear bodywork to accommodate the bumper-less look, along with Alfaholics GTA stainless steel front mesh grille and GTA rear number plate plinth. The Alfa Romeo badging front and rear has been upgraded with hand enamel painted badges and all lights and lenses are brand new. The car has been freshly resprayed recently along with the engine bay. Inside, considerable time has been taken to enhance the authentic feel of this model with refurbished dashboard and wood veneers, retrimmed original seats, new carpets, hood lining and extensive lightweight sound deadener that allows the road noise to be minimised and the intake and exhaust sounds amplified. A classic Bluetooth head-unit has been installed to keep the classic look but offer the advantage of music streaming and phone calls, with high quality speakers added too. Finally, all gauges have been restored along with the speedometer converted to kilometres from miles and the tachometer upgraded internally to an electronic unit to ensure absolute accuracy. This car has been built to maximise the strengths of the Alfa 105 series and create an intoxicating driving experience with razor sharp steering, exceptional braking, traction breaking power when driven spiritedly, while being comfortable and docile when not driven hard.” A great looking Alfa Coupe and in the spirit of the almost legendary GTA, this would make a fun car to enjoy classic events. Currently on SA Historic registration, this is not transferable, however it should be eligible for similar schemes in other jurisdictions, this equates to minimal on road costs.
